With his regiment  39th Dorsetshire Regiment of Foot in the British Army.  Fought with the Duke of Wellington in the Peninsular War and against the Americans in Canada,  Battle of Waterloo against the English - then became an escort of convicts on the Mariner, arriving in Sydney on the 23rd May, 1827.
