One of the leaders of the French Revolution. Also known as "the Incorruptible" and also a member of the Committee of Public Safety and was instrumental in the period of the Revolution commonly known as the Reign of Terror that ended with his arrest and execution.

Maximillien Robespierre was a Deist, and believed that God's greatest gift to humanity is not religion, but the ability to reason.

Maximillien Robespierre felt  that the original pure religion had become corrupted by priests who had manipulated it for personal gain and for the class interests of the priesthood in general.

Robespierre was guillotined without trial in the Place de la Révolution - 28th July, 1794.
